The MDSC had an exciting visit from Hiroko Kondo at our Advocacy Day at the State House in May! Hiroko first connected with the MDSC in 2013 when she reached out to Sarah Cullen to express interest in our prenatal resources. Since then, she has been a champion for Down syndrome advocacy in Japan. She created “Living with Down Syndrome” (英語版冊子リーフ_軽め), a Japanese translation of the MDSC’s “Understanding a Down Syndrome Diagnosis.” She has also helped organize a Buddy Walk in Japan that brought awareness to thousands and raised critical funds. What’s next for Hiroko? Inspired by the MDSC’s Your Next Star campaign, she hopes to work on increasing employment opportunities for members of her community in Japan.
Thank you, Hiroko for all you’ve done to bring awareness to Down syndrome and increase inclusion. We’re excited to see everything she will accomplish in the future!
