Congratulations to Omar, who was sworn in as a police officer for a day with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Omar has Down syndrome and had always wanted to become a police officer. He was thrilled to be fulfilling his lifelong dream. While he served as police officer for a day, the occasion provided a great opportunity to discuss the abilities of people with Down syndrome. Career paths for individuals with Down syndrome are limitless, including serving in public safety departments at cities and town or colleges and universities.
Omar’s accomplishments are further proof that there is nothing he can’t do! What’s next for Omar? The possibilities are endless, and we are excited to see everything else he accomplishes in his career.
